Bulgaria and Serbia in One Day from Sofia
- 8 hours
- Hotel pick-up 08:30
- Guides: English, Spanish, Italian
- Passport or EU ID needed
- Free cancellation 24h before
Two countries in one day: Boyana Church (or the National History Museum) in Sofia, then Serbia's secluded Poganovo Monastery. Hotel pick-up, professional guide and transport included. Passport required.
This day trip takes you across the border into south-east Serbia, to one of the hidden treasures of the Balkans. After pick-up from your hotel, the first stop is Boyana Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its 13th-century frescoes. If no visiting slot is available, we visit the National History Museum instead.
Next, you drive west and cross into Serbia. Poganovo Monastery of St. John the Theologian stands in a quiet gorge of the Jerma river. Its 15th-century church holds some of the finest late-medieval frescoes in the region. Your guide tells the story of the monastery and the lands around it.
After the visit there is time for a traditional light lunch at a restaurant nearby (at your own expense). In the afternoon you return to Sofia, and the tour ends at your hotel.
Important: Bring your passport or EU ID card. Border crossing times can vary.
